Surge Protection

Your panel is the heart of your electrical system. Don’t take chances!

The effects of a power surge can be powerful. From burst light bulbs to fried computers, power surges can wreak incredible damage on your belongings, with costs up in the thousands of dollars to replace and repair.

All that heartbreak can be avoided by having your home outfitted with a surge protector to stop power surges before they can hurt you. Let OT Electric protect your property with a surge protector, which stops exterior power surges from entering your home service. Additionally, entertainment equipment and computers should be protected with a surge bar.

Our electricians can help you optimize your home for surge protection with a comprehensive inspection of your electrical service and the electronic devices in your home. A little bit of prevention now can save you thousands of dollars later on, so don’t wait until it’s too late. Call OT Electric and protect your home and belongings from dangerous power surges today.

What are electrical surges?
Surges are sudden and unexpected spikes in voltage that travel throughout your home’s electrical system.

Where do surges come from?
Some surges come from within your own home, such as turning on a vacuum cleaner or sending a document to your printer. The sudden demand on the electrical service inside your home creates a surge of electricity that increases the power going to outlets in your walls.

Other surges come from outside, as in electric utility switching, downed power poles, cut power lines and lightning strikes. There is little you can do to stop such events and your best recourse is to protect your home from the dangers of the exterior power surge.

Surges can even enter through cable televisions and telephone wiring. For example, if lightning strikes a Florida area home or somewhere around it, a surge may go through the electrical system and anything that is plugged in may get “zapped,” whether it is turned on or off.

Always Hire a Professional Electrical Repair Technician

No matter how urgent any electrical repairs seem, it’s never okay to attempt to handle them on your own. Trying to take care of electrical problems without professional training is extremely dangerous. If you or someone else isn’t hurt during your attempt, there’s still a chance that you’ve left something undone that poses a huge risk to you, your home, or your family. In fact, faulty electrical wiring is the number one cause of house fires in the United States, according to the National Fire Protection Agency. So in order to make sure that your home is safe, always rely on a professional for any electrical services.

Electrical Troubleshooting

Circuit breakers that keep tripping, a flickering light on the back porch, or an exhaust fan that just won’t work properly—all of these are common problems homeowners face that have something to do with their electrical systems. But figuring out where the problem is stemming from can take a lot of work. Our OT Electric technicians will find out exactly what’s causing the problem, and what other problem may be happening—or beginning to happen—for the same reasons. Then we’ll nip them in the bud.
